SHADED AREAS

Sometimes we can adjust cultural practices to help the grass perform more to our liking.  If this is not an option, we can look at seeding.

Why do we seed?

Seeding is a tool we can use to thicken bare or thin areas. Grasses like tall fescue don’t spread well and need seeding to help damaged areas recover. The best time of year to seed is from September 1 to October 15.

Sometimes it is better to start all over. In cases where we have undesireable grasses, it is better to kill off all of the bad growth and start over with the best seed you can get. It is amazing how many little problems go away when you have a good foundation.
